STAGE 12 – Castelnuovo Berardenga – Staffoli Le Cerbaie – 2016

Another challenging stage, a continuous of short climbs and demanding downhill in a twisted sequence of curves. It is the stage that most gratifies the randonneur, as it crosses the magnificent city of Siena, letting you admire the cultural and architectural heritage.
Coming from Siena, you will ride along the Montagnola, a place beloved from Siena people and Dante Alighieri. You will then meet Rosia, a small hamlet, where the secret “Wine Control” will be located; It will be impossible to continue, without tasting this nectar of Tuscan lands, envied by all over the world. Then you will cross the medieval village of San Gimignano, characterized by the majestic towers, until you reach Montaione, a small pearl from whose balcony you can see Florence. You will meet the Arno River crossing the world’s most famous leather tanning district. In the final, the path rise in the magical and quiet natural park of the “Cerbaie”, from where you will start heading to the Appennine Chain , until reaching the end of the stage at Staffoli.
